Journalist faces prison sentence up to 27 years due to reporting

DİYARBAKIR – Prosecution demands up to 27 years prison sentence for publisher of Silvan Mücadele Newspaper Ferhat Parlak by reason of made news and realized videos about conflict in Silvan-Diyarbakır. Writing “ police and soldiers lost their life” , defining YDG-H members as “activist” are shown as evidences of crime in the accusation.

 Prosecuted opened against Publisher of local newspaper named Silvan Mücadele Newspaper Ferhat Parlak is facing prison sentence up to 27 years on claims of “Praising crime and criminal”, “ propaganda for illegal organization” and “being member of illegal organization. 

All news Parlak reported were shown as illegal activities on the accusation.

Parlak speak about the sued to dihaber. “ I had been sued many times in my profession life. But I have never seen such as discursive claims. All claims against me are the news I reported as part of journalist activities. I was counted as militia because of I don’t have press card. Condemning the Suruç massacre also was counted as ‘ propaganda for Kurdistan Worker Party (PKK)’. My father’s newspaper archives, my 12 years archives and Öcalan’s book was shown as evidence of ‘ being member of illegal organization’. The journalist gets award when they report in the conflict area in a democratic country. But awards of this country are jailing and murdered. Journalist is shown as a ‘crime’ in this country” said Parlak.
