ANKARA – Discharging academicians was protested in Ankara University. Students boycotted the lectures and staged a sit-in at diaconate building.


Students and academicians of Ankara University theatre, sociology and psychology department protested discharging academicians by decree at Ankara University. Police and the university security took security measure and blocked the way to stop protestors.

Academician Özgün Çakar made a statement on behalf of the group. “ Discharging academicians means not only leave unemployed people but also stop the academic education unlawfully” said Çakar.


Also students boycotted the lectures during the protest. Student made a class out of the classes with discharged academicians. After the protest, student went to diaconate building and ask resignation of diaconate.
